My Weight-Loss Journey Part 1

My Weight-Loss Journey Part 1

As a child and teenager, weight loss was never a concern for me. I was an athletic young lady and “could eat whatever I wanted” and really wouldn’t gain any weight. I remember girls in my 7th grade class having “weight loss challenges” and they would see who could lose the most weight in a week. They would sit at lunch and eat saltine crackers and drink water. I remember thinking how ridiculous they were. I never said that, but it was how I felt. I can even remember telling my mom about what they were doing. The idea of being worried about weight loss at 13 didn’t make sense to me. Read More

Dear Weary Mama who just wants something for herself,

I get you. I am you. So even though I’m writing this to you, I’m also writing it to me.
I know you have plans and dreams in your heart to do great things, but you put them on hold so that you can pour out into the greatest “things”: your family. You give up so much of yourself. I know it’s hard. TRUST ME. I do. I promise. Read More

Sugar – An Idol?

Sugar – An Idol?

Hi, my name is Gail, I’m 31 years old, and I’m a recovering sugar-addict.

Sugar- An Idole?

Hello From The Other Side

Hello From The Other Side

Dear Mom at Walmart with 2 young children in the cart and one strapped to your chest,

Hello from the other side. {Go ahead. Sing it! Belt it out. You know you want to!} I promise, I know what it’s like to be in your shoes. I too, had ‘stair-step’ children, one right after the other. I know you get tired of the “Are they all yours?” Or the “You sure have your hands full!” While I was wandering around today before I saw you I even received a “Looks like they brought the whole school to the store!” As a matter of fact, we did. Because we homeschool. 😉
