5 Things I Love About Homeschooling

5 Things I Love About Homeschooling

This week has been full of challenges. Between exhaustion from adrenal fatigue and discipline issues, it’s been rough. Homeschooling isn’t always easy. I often feel in a constant state of evaluation. This week has shown me that there some things that we could be doing better and more efficiently. I’ve been sharing some of my struggles with a  friend, and she encouraged me to write down 5 things I love about homeschooling.

And so I did. Read More

My Weight-Loss Journey Part 1

My Weight-Loss Journey Part 1

As a child and teenager, weight loss was never a concern for me. I was an athletic young lady and “could eat whatever I wanted” and really wouldn’t gain any weight. I remember girls in my 7th grade class having “weight loss challenges” and they would see who could lose the most weight in a week. They would sit at lunch and eat saltine crackers and drink water. I remember thinking how ridiculous they were. I never said that, but it was how I felt. I can even remember telling my mom about what they were doing. The idea of being worried about weight loss at 13 didn’t make sense to me. Read More

Dear Weary Mama who just wants something for herself…

Dear Weary Mama who just wants something for herself,

I get you. I am you. So even though I’m writing this to you, I’m also writing it to me.
I know you have plans and dreams in your heart to do great things, but you put them on hold so that you can pour out into the greatest “things”: your family. You give up so much of yourself. I know it’s hard. TRUST ME. I do. I promise. Read More

How to Battle Discontentment

Do you battle discontentment? Let me share with you how I plan to win this go-around.

Easy Homemade Greek Yogurt!

Easy Homemade Greek Yogurt!

Who would have thought I would be making homemade yogurt?

Well. Me actually.

I remember my first small group after we moved down to Georgia. The discussion around the women’s table was “The moms who make their own baby food….” I sheepishly said, “Well. I do.” It’s easy really, and that’s what I told them. You cook the veggies and blend. Take the fruit and mash it up and serve.  Read More

Hello From The Other Side

Hello From The Other Side

Dear Mom at Walmart with 2 young children in the cart and one strapped to your chest,

Hello from the other side. {Go ahead. Sing it! Belt it out. You know you want to!} I promise, I know what it’s like to be in your shoes. I too, had ‘stair-step’ children, one right after the other. I know you get tired of the “Are they all yours?” Or the “You sure have your hands full!” While I was wandering around today before I saw you I even received a “Looks like they brought the whole school to the store!” As a matter of fact, we did. Because we homeschool. 😉

Hello from the other side
