love and marriage {and cute shoes!}

Love and marriage.

 I had the joy and privilege of being in one of my best friend’s wedding this past weekend. It was a joyous occasion because of the pursuit of a love that would be honoring to God. It’s so heart warming to see your best friend choose to love a godly man. To see them unite together in a covenant of love. It gives me all the feels.

Love & Marriage

Weddings take me back to my own wedding day. It reminds me that every day is a choice to love my husband: for better or worse, in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer, till death do us part. Christian marriages are to be a picture of Christ and the church. Husbands are to sacrificially love their wives. Wives are to respect and submit to their husbands. It is tough. But oh so worth it.

I say that people who say marriage is easy are either lying or they aren’t doing it right. It’s a tough gig when two sinners come together and have to deny our selfishness and truly serve one another in love. But God. He is so good and kind when we do marriage HIS way. His blessings on our obedience will be great!

Weddings are fun! We did a few dances that I didn’t know any of the moves to! “The Wobble” lasted forever. I might have gotten poked at for never doing “The Electric Slide.” I joked that I didn’t dance at school because I went to a Christian school and was actually homeschooled in high school. And of course, we couldn’t go through the day without a snapchat picture, right? My friend couldn’t believe that I actually DON’T have a snapchat account. I guess I’m just not the selfie type!

Cute Shoes

When I received my dress, it fit, if you know what I mean. I didn’t need alterations except for the hem, so I decided I was going to try to avoid that part by getting some cute, very high, high heels. Heels are not my thing, but these looked comfortable and had a nice thick heel, so I thought I would be just fine. Which proved to be true. These shoes were very comfortable, but because I’m not a heel-wearer, I changed into my flats after the ceremony! I told the groomsman I walked with, if I fell, he was going down with me! ha! I did still have to hem my dress about two inches, but I could do that myself, so it still saved me money in the long run!

All in all, the evening was amazing. Being able to watch my dear friend pledge herself in marriage to the man of her dreams was just amazing. I can’t wait to see what the Lord does through them and their union together.
