I had a FitBit and loved the challenge of getting in my 10,000 steps a day! It was fun when it finally vibrated telling me I had accomplished one of my goals for the day. I love how on laundry day I did 25+ floors in a day. Yet, I found myself falling back into my old ways of getting stuck on numbers. A FitBit can be a great tool, but you have to know your bend as well.
If you are looking to intensify your workouts without going to the gym, sliders are an easy, portable way to do that! I have used paper plates in the past, but my Momsanity sliders are way nicer! Our official first day of school is tomorrow! We have a 4,2,1 and Kindergartener in the house. Homeschooling is a calling we have felt the Lord put on our life and as long as He has called us to it, we are going to do it!
This year brought a bit of a new challenge for me having 4 of our 5 officially in school. I knew I had to “get my stuff together” this year and really be organized. While I love planning, I’ve also had my share of struggles in keeping my homeschool organized. My plans work for the first few weeks of school, but soon I find myself in disarray.
What happens when you say, “I think I’m going to cut sugar out of my diet”… You instantly
want need sugar! Am I right? I know I am, because that is exactly what happened to me when I decided that I need to cleanse my system from sugar.
So what do you do when you set your mind to a sugar detox without caving in to the cravings of sugar? Here are a few things I have done to help along the way.
I am a recovering sugar addict. Just a few months ago, I was actually able to say out loud to some girlfriends that I had an addiction to sugar. I knew it, but couldn’t say it before. God has been good, kind, gracious, and loving the sugar out of me! Even when I fall (as you’ll read below) He is still good and gentle to lead me in His ways.
On July 17th, I started a 21-day sugar detox. I am trying to stick to it and show myself grace all at the same time. A few months ago I realized that sugar was having its way with me. Then, over the 4th of July weekend and week, I just totally binged. I knew it and *gasp* didn’t even care. Friends, that’s a red flag when we KNOW what we are doing to our bodies and we DON’T CARE! I am so excited that you are here! Most of you reading this have probably found me through my Facebook page, Fit for Worship. Many of you have been my friends since my very first blog “The Imperfect Housewife” or maybe since “Confessions over Coffee.” I recently made the switch to using my name instead of my latest domain “Fit for Worship Fitness.” It seems I go through seasons of writing, but the Lord has really impressed upon me to start writing again. Which was a happy “Yes!” from me. In case you are new, I am just going to use this post to introduce myself.
My name is Gail, (nice to meet you!) and I am a wife of 12 years this September, mother of 5 children (currently 9-5 years old), homeschooler, a Certified Revelation Wellness® Instructor and Weigh Less to Feed More® Facilitator!
As you can see, I wear many hats and have to delicately balance life. My bend is to over commit, feel overwhelmed, quit just about everything, and then start back up again. I know though, and God is working on my showing me how to balance life. It often means saying “No” to things that aren’t going to help fulfill the vision and goals of our family.
I’ve never considered myself a fitness buff, and still don’t, but through my Instructor Training, I have learned that life is about more than food and fitness. While we have to eat, I am (still) learning how to eat to live and not live to eat. I am learning to fuel my body with foods that are a good fuel that will give me energy and keep me going. I have never spent hours in the gym (with 5 kids…. Who has time for that??) but I am learning to take care of my physical body as an act of worship to God.
In my free time (insert laughter!) I like to read, crochet, write, and laminate everything that can be laminated. #nerd. I’m finding I actually enjoy gardening when before I thought I just killed everything so I gave up trying to grow anything!
