We eat a lot of food. I mean, a lot! And not just food but specifically, fresh produce. I had been looking into a few different organic produce delivery websites, but most of them weren’t delivering to my area. I came across Misfit Market and finally! A service that covered where I lived.

My first box was fantastic! At that time, I could not customize my box so I didn’t know what I would be receiving. It was exciting to try new recipes for produce I wouldn’t normally buy at the store. There is also a marketplace where you can add on other options that change weekly for a discounted price compared to the grocery stores.
This was my first box! All of my produce was in great condition. You can see that some of the produce is “ugly. Often, grocery stores won’t take produce that doesn’t look a certain way because it is less appealing to the consumer and it won’t be purchased. Crazy, right? My second box was the same as my first and came in great condition. However on my third box, I ran into an issue. Keep in mind, this is organic produce. I had ordered some berries from the marketplace and when they arrived they were already moldy! I was so disappointed. I realized that would be a real possibility because my order ships out on Monday and I receive it on Wednesday. I emailed the company just to let them know. Since I knew that was a risk, I didn’t expect or ask for anything in return. I sincerely wanted them to know that the produce I received was no longer good.
I received a reply the same day! They refunded me my money for the produce that I purchased from the Marketplace. I have had a few other times where the produce I’ve customized in my box has shown up broken or rotten. I have emailed them immediately to let them know and they have added credit to my account to go towards my next box. I also always send a photo so they can see for themselves so that they know I’m not just trying to get credit. Misfit Market has had incredible customer service! They are always friendly, thank me for my email, and encourage me to continue to let them know if my box comes with produce that is no longer good. Customer service goes a long way for me, and this has kept me a customer!
You can set your box to come weekly or bi-weekly. If you have too much and don’t need more, you can skip your delivery. There are two sizes to choose from: Mischief and Madness. We get the Madness box because we are a large family. They say the Mischief box is for 1-2 people and the Madness for 3-5. I make ours work for our family of seven. I do my best to customize my box each week, but sometimes I forget and get surprised at what’s in my box!
You can also choose your delivery day. I picked Wednesday when I first started and have just stuck with that. Each box is insulated and has ice packs in them to keep the produce cold. Living in Georgia, the ice pack is normally thawed by the time it gets to me, which might result in onions and potatoes being a little bit moist. It doesn’t bother me as we use up our produce pretty quickly, but I suppose you could dry them out by leaving them in the sun or putting them in a warm oven, if that bothers you.
